So, you’ve been tasked with organising the office Christmas party and it’s your first time… Starting to fret just a little bit? Don’t worry I’m here to help!
Here are my TOP TIPS to make sure your party is the (jingle) belle of the ball this Christmas:
Do your research!
Having an idea of what your team or company actually really want for the office Christmas party is the key starting point. Ask your team/management the following questions:
• Do you want to join a shared party or have something exclusive to you?
• Would you like to dress up for the occasion, or go with a relaxed dress code?
• How important is it that there is entertainment?
• Would you like a theme?
• How far are you prepared to commute from the office?
• What is your preferred date and why?
• How important is the quality of food and drink to you?
• If you absolutely had to cut something from the party, what would it be?
Getting these answers is a great starting point. For instance, if you want an exclusive party you’ll have a rough idea of the size of venue needed, if people want to dress up then choose a formal, elegant venue and if entertainment is important, look at options such as a live band or even a Christmas choir!
Think ahead!
It is never too early to start thinking about your office Christmas party. You may feel a bit silly getting into the festive spirit in the height of summer, but don’t! If you want your office party to run smoothly (and be fantastic!) then organisation is key.
You never know when you might be hit with an amazing idea!
Be a people pleaser!
For the best party, you’ve got to remember that, unfortunately, it’s not about you. Know how to please your audience and you’re about 90% of the way there already!
It’s easy to fall in love with a venue, but a lot harder to be sure it will suit your guests. Be ruthless and always keep your list of requirements in mind when you are viewing venues.
The differing tastes of your audience will never be so obvious as when you need to set the play list to ensure everyone will be happy with the music. Don’t be afraid to get a second opinion.
Find inspiration!
Ask your friends and colleagues about the best office Christmas party they have ever been to. Recommendations are gold dust, and your friends will only send you to good venues and suppliers.
