A Dream Come True

The Naval and Military Club is almost a second home to Andrew May, an active member of the Club, and from the first time his daughter Olivia set eyes on the magnificent building, she had dreamed of holding her wedding there.

The staff went out of their way to make Olivia’s dream come true, ensuring that the couple could get hitched without a hitch, and that they were able to stamp their personality on every detail of their special day. That’s not to say there weren’t a few challenges along the way!

There was trouble abrew when the electricity board descended with plans to dig up the entire front entrance in order to perform some emergency work. Thankfully, with a little persuasion and just a couple of complimentary crates of beer, the workmen were willing to put in some overtime to get the pavement back in place and the entrance ready in time for the wedding.

The couple had 186 during the peak of their reception, so the King Harald V Room was used for overflow — staff managed to re-set it from a ceremony layout to a beautiful round table dining room for 84 guests within 20 minutes!

The Ampersand chefs created the couple’s dream menu, and guests dined on delicious beef carpaccio with summer radishes followed by perfectly cooked rump of lamb with summer squash. Vegetarians and a vegan were also well catered for, with their own special and scrumptious menu.

In ode to Olivia’s passion for ice cream, mini cones were created as a final clonazepam buy online no prescription canapĂ© as well as ice cream lollipops propped in a bed of flaked white chocolate. All the flavours she requested were handmade by William, our Pastry Chef. Prior to the wedding, American classic Rocky Road was an unknown quantity to him, but, with a little research, William rose to the challenge, making the flavour his own. The bride and groom provided their own cake, but William added some special touches to it with beautiful, bright fresh fruit and flowers.

Vintage entertainment was provided by a classic magician, who delighted guests as they waited in the receiving line, and by jazz band the Bellinis who cover modern hits, reworking them with an old fashioned swing flair. The beautiful, historical venue was the ideal setting for these charming old time amusements.

Olivia’s father was so proud to see his daughter wedded at his beloved Club and couldn’t have been happier with the success of the day: “My daughter had hoped that she might be married at the In & Out from the first time she saw the Club … and her highest expectations were exceeded.

“Every member of staff bent over backwards to give everyone the best of times … It is no exaggeration to say that at least 50 guests commented to me on the beauty of the setting. It is a perfect venue for a wedding and your colleagues and staff made it simply perfect. It made me very proud to be a member.”
