Do You Remember the First Time?
Clothworkers’ Hall
THE COUPLE: Michael and Emily
THE DATE: 10th November 2012
On the day of the Lord Mayor’s Show we held our first wedding reception at Clothworkers’ Hall. The venue and event were so perfectly suited that it’s hard to believe that it was our first time! It was wonderful to see the beautiful space come to life on such a happy day, and we hope it will be the first of many wedding celebrations held there.
Following a ceremony at Our Lady of Dolours Catholic Church in Hendon, Michael, Emily, and their guests began their celebration at Clothworkers’ Hall in the elegant Adams styled Reception Room. This opulent yet intimate room was the ideal setting for their pre-dinner drinks reception which included canapés of sun blushed tomato and goat’s cheese tarts, chicken Caesar in parmesan baskets, and salmon fishcakes with a spicy tomato sauce.
Art graduate Michael designed all the table number markers, each one different and depicting a rock band and a comic book hero. Every male guest received a CD of the band which was featured on their table, with covers designed by Michael. Female guests received special fans and the children were given personalised gift boxes as their favours. Meanwhile, Emily showed off some impressive baking skills, creating not just their traditional wedding cake but also a sponge cake, a chocolate cake, and plenty of cute cupcakes.
Seated at round tables in the grand buy valium sydney Livery Hall, guests enjoyed a delicious three course dinner of roast butternut squash soup with ham hock tortellini, red wine braised beef with cauliflower purée and winter greens, and apple tart Tatin with mascarpone and almond ice cream, rounded off with coffee and chocolates. There were special options for the children and vegetarians, and the Chester Boyd chefs even created a gluten, egg, and dairy free version of the menu!
With a reception which lasted until midnight and guests burning up the calories on the dancefloor to the couple’s choice of live band, Michael and Emily took no chances, providing a range of post-dinner finger food to ensure that none of their guests went hungry. On offer were beer battered haddock with French fries and tartar sauce, beef burgers with gherkin and tomato relish, and croque-monsieur.
Delighted with their evening, Michael got in touch to say:
“Thank you from Emily and me for a wonderful evening on Saturday; everything was great, dinner ran smoothly, and the guests were very impressed by both the building and the service. We will certainly recommend Clothworkers’ Hall and Chester Boyd for our friends. Please pass on our thanks to … all the team for a job well done. We were really pleased to be the first wedding at Clothworkers’!”
