Weddings at Museum Of London Docklands

Built in 1802, this late Georgian warehouse is Canary Wharf’s only Grade I listed venue and was originally used to store rum, molasses and cotton from West India slave plantations.

Original pine columns and floors combine with contemporary fittings to provide a stylish location and truly unique venue. With private use of the ground floor function areas a bespoke selection of rooms are available for a seamless flow for your day. Why not host a drink reception in the Rum Store with Quayside doors opening onto the south facing terrace.

Linking in with the Chris Ellmers Gallery, this space can be used for larger events. Alternatively you may prefer to use the impressive Muscovado Hall. For a truly unique day why not select from one of our five galleries, each of which have their own place in history to enhance your special day. Located on the Quayside overlooking the river, this venue is an ideal location for photographs of the impressive Canary Wharf skyline.

Christmas at Museum Of London Docklands

This Christmas you can celebrate in style at Canary Wharf’s only Grade I listed building. Its original pine columns and floors, juxtaposed stylishly with contemporary fittings, provide a distinctive background for entertaining and make it an ideal setting for your Christmas party.
Guests will enter through the stunning Muscovado Hall to marvel at its exposed columns and gleaming oakwood floors. They will then be shown to one of the three versatile function areas, perfectly presented to suit this year’s White Christmas theme. Here they can enjoy a sparkling wine reception, before taking their seats for a delicious dinner, then the chance to dance the night away.
For larger events, the Museum can also offer exclusive use of the entire ground floor; rooms are interconnected, making this a truly versatile party space.

Boardroom

The Boardroom seats 16 and with direct views over the quayside and Canary Wharf, it is the ideal venue for smaller meetings and a refreshing space away from the office. The Boardroom offers an inspiring environment, and is fully equipped with a digital projector and projector screen. The Boardroom is air-conditioned and has natural daylight, it also features the original pine columns and exposed brickwork characteristic throughout the building as a whole.

Rum Store

For meetings, lunches, dinners, receptions or parties the fully restored Rum Store is an ideal location, with quayside doors which open out onto the south-facing quayside terrace. Original pine columns and exposed brickwork make this room a truly unique event and conference space.
Located on the ground floor The Rum Store enjoys plenty of natural daylight and is fully air conditioned. It has the benefit of its own cloakroom facilities and is available for daytime and evening events.

This blank canvas space is located on the ground floor next to the Rum Store and ideal for dinners, exhibitions and receptions
Onsite event lighting can be employed to create the perfect atmosphere for your event or simply to add warmth and charm, making it an ideal pick for branded corporate events and parties.

Quayside Room

The Quayside Room is located on the third floor of the building and is available as an independent meeting space or as a catering room for the adjoining lecture theatre. Its bare brick walls and direct views of West India Quay and Canary Wharf fill the room with distinct character and make it an excellent choice for an event. Available for both daytime or evening hire, the Quayside Room is fully air-conditioned and has natural daylight.

Wilberforce Theatre

The impressive Wilberforce Theatre is available with comfortable tiered seating. Hire of the theatre includes use of in-house audio-visual equipment and the assistance of an onsite technician, ensuring the smooth running of your conference. The adjoining Quayside Room can be used for catering, allowing your conference to operate solely on the third floor of the building.

The Wilberforce Theatre is available day and evening.

Muscovado Hall

During the day, the Muscovado Hall is the Museum entrance, but its exposed columns and gleaming oakwood floors can be utilised to provide a stunning backdrop for evening events.
There is the opportunity to enjoy a built-in bar area to enhance your dinner or reception events, and for larger events the entire ground floor can be hired for a spectacular impression.

Sailortown

Take your guests for an atmospheric stroll through a recreation of one of the most popular “Sailortowns” of the 1840s. Narrow streets and alleyways are lined with pubs, shops and services typical of the riverside district. The reception can then continue, or guests can be seated for dinner, in City and River, home to an 1807 model of the Lord Mayor’s state barge and the livery of that era. These unique spaces provide a truly memorable location for your event, and make Sailortown, which can be used with the Rum Store or Chris Ellmers Gallery, a superb pick for pre-dinner drinks.

Hosting your event within one of the Museum’s galleries gives it a unique surrounding and a wealth of conversation opportunities inspired by the fascinating displays. All of the Museum’s galleries can be hired for evening events; there’s a great variety of spaces, allowing guests to enjoy pre-dinner networking, drinks receptions or private dinners of all shapes and sizes.
In addition to Sailortown, there is the City and River Gallery, London Sugar and Slavery, Docklands at War, Trade Expansion Gallery, and the New Port New City Gallery.

Rum & Sugar

Rum & Sugar, the Museum of London Docklands’s bar and restaurant, offers a British menu bursting with flavour and is ideal for daytime event catering or pre-dinner receptions with its extensive selection of rum and highly recommended cocktails. Taking its name and much of its styling from its original function as a storage hub for vast quantities of rum, sugar and molasses from the Caribbean, the restaurant offers a distinct backdrop for striking entertaining.
Rum & Sugar can also offer private hire for large events from formal receptions to informal events such as leaving drinks or Christmas parties.

It’s also a great place to just pop in for business or pleasure; there’s live music on Wednesday evenings and a DJ on Thursdays and Fridays every week.
